Government of Punjab has issued a seven day detention order for Benazir Bhutto. Prison staff has been placed at the gates of the house where she's staying in Lahore.
She was planning to start a "long march" today from Lahore, despite stern warnings from the government.
Deputy Information Minister Tariq Azeem had earlier said that "Long marches, rallies and political meetings are banned in Punjab province. This is for her security". He had told AFP that "She will not be allowed to break the law so there will be no long march".
